Rapid Emergency Communications Deployment
Operational communications in any disaster are key to a swift and efficient response. NSTI provided the communications infrastructure in Alaska’s Prince William Sound during the Exxon Valdez oil spill in 1989 to enable the coordination of thousands of workers and since then we have engineered, installed and implemented wide-area spill response communication systems for all major Alaska spill response cooperatives. These include Alyeska Pipeline Company’s Ship Escort/Response Vessel System, Cook Inlet Spill Response Inc., Alaska Clean Seas and the Southeast Alaska Petroleum Resource Organization. Our company was also involved with the implementation of the Alaska Land Mobile Radio System, which provides state-of-the-art interoperability for first responders across State, Federal and local jurisdictions. During the 2005 Hurricane Katrina and 2010 Deep Water Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, NSTI immediately provided communications in support of the recovery and cleanup efforts.
